Laurel Kretzing Appears in LIBN Who’s Who in Women in Professional Services
Date: August 2nd, 2013
Location: Garden City, New York

Laurel Kretzing, a partner in the firm’s Litigation and Municipal Practice Groups, was recently featured in the Long Island Business News Who’s Who in Women in Professional Services section, where she discussed the lengthy and costly process of conducting discovery and a new proposal regarding this fact-finding procedure.

Ms. Kretzing noted, “Recently, there has been a proposal made to change the rules governing discovery in federal courts, which if adopted, would allow the courts to limit the discovery based on the amount at stake and importance of the issues as well as the resources of the parties. This proposal, if adopted, has the potential to dramatically change how both lawyers and clients evaluate and proceed with a case because the court will now be directly involved in insuring that the case is handled in a cost effective manner.”

At Jaspan Schlesinger, Ms. Kretzing concentrates her practice in commercial litigation, civil rights, employment law, land use, environmental law and construction law with an emphasis on all aspects of public contracting. She has substantial trial and appellate experience litigating complex matters in both the State and Federal Courts and has lectured on construction law topics.
