Joanna M. Caccavo focuses her practice on matters of education law. She regularly provides advice and counsel to school districts on many areas of concern including, but not limited to, Freedom of Information Law requests, civil service issues, and contract drafting and collective bargaining matters, such as those involving Civil Service Law § 75 and the Public Employment Relations Board.
Joanna also frequently guides administrators in addressing delicate student-oriented concerns, such as custody-related problems, residency determinations, student discipline, and matters relating to student health. She regularly advises administrators regarding compliance with school-related laws and regulations, with a focus both on practical implementation of best practices and on maintaining positive relations with local communities.
Joanna is also a member of the firm’s Trust and Estates Practice Group, where she represents clients in connection with estate planning and proceedings before the New York Surrogate’s Court.
