Daniel E. Shapiro


Daniel E. Shapiro is a partner in the Firm’s Litigation Practice Group and its Appellate Practice Group, where he concentrates on commercial litigation and appellate practice.  Mr. Shapiro represents both corporate and private clients in a wide variety of complex business disputes with a focus in commercial and residential real estate, employment and banking litigation and represents municipal clients with a focus in the area of civil rights litigation.

Mr. Shapiro also has extensive trial experience, having recently represented clients in two complex commercial partnership matters which combined for over 100 days of trial. He has also written several articles that have been published in a variety of New York State legal publications with topics ranging from an analysis of hostile work environment claims in the digital age to the Affordable Care Act’s impact on both the emergency room and the federal court system.

Mr. Shapiro was named to the 2014, 2015, and 2016 New York Metro area Super Lawyers Rising Stars list. No more than 2.5% of the attorneys in the New York Metro area are named to this list. Mr. Shapiro received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University where he majored in Political Science and also served as an intern to Senator Hillary Clinton in Washington, D.C. Mr. Shapiro attended Hofstra University School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor. While at Hofstra, Mr. Shapiro was a member of the Moot Court Association and was selected to represent the school at the Robert F. Wagner Labor and Employment Moot Court Competition. Mr. Shapiro was also a member of the Hofstra Labor and Employment Law Journal and was an intern to the Honorable Marguerite A. Grays of the New York State Supreme Court.

Mr. Shapiro is admitted to practice law in the state courts of New York and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. He is also a member of the New York State and Nassau County Bar Associations.
