Maureen T. Liccione is a partner in the Firm's
Municipal and Litigation Practice
Groups. After several years as an aide in the New York State Legislature,
she served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of New York
and then worked for 20 years as a partner in a large Suffolk County firm.
She serves as special counsel to municipalities throughout Long Island
guiding them through complex approval processes, including SEQRA compliance
and in litigation. Ms. Liccione represents private clients in land
use, environmental and litigation matters and has argued landmark cases
in New York Appellate Courts, including the Court of Appeals. Rated
AV, the highest Martindale-Hubbell peer rating for lawyers, Ms. Liccione
has lectured on various topics at St. John’s School of Law, the
N.Y.S. Association of Towns and the Suffolk Academy of Law. Ms.
Liccione is a former director of the Suffolk County Bar Association and
of the Suffolk Academy of Law and is the former Chair of the Suffolk
County Bar Association Municipal Law Committee.
Ms. Liccione is a member of the Board of Managers of the Great South
Bay YMCA, which honored her as Volunteer of the Year in 2001. She
has twice been selected by the Long Island Business News as one of Long
Island’s 50 Most Influential Women. She is a member of the Class
of 2007 Energeia Partnership, the Regional Stewardship Academy for Long
Island leaders. Ms. Liccione was elected for seven consecutive terms
as chair of the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Summit Council, an award winning,
nationally acclaimed association of civic, education and business leaders.
Ms. Liccione graduated magna cum laude from Siena College in 1975 and
St. John’s University School of Law in 1981. She was admitted
to practice before the New York State Courts and the Southern and Eastern
District New York Federal Courts in 1982 and the Second Circuit Court
of Appeals in 2006.
